Thou Shalt Not Raise a False Report

In Exodus 20 of the Holy Scriptures is listed what is referred to as “The Ten Commandments.” These commandments given to Moses from God on Mt. Sinai include, “Thou shalt not kill;” “Thou shalt not steal;” “Thou shalt not bear false witness.” The list of commandments does not end with the ten most familiar commandments of the chapter, but continue on throughout the rest of the Book of Exodus, the Books of Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, containing over 600 laws in all given by God to be obeyed.

As The LORD continued giving Moses in detail HIS LAW that was to be followed in addition to the Ten Commandments, in the very first verse of Exodus 23 is written, “Thou shalt not raise a false report.” A true witness among the people is what must be maintained to have a civil society for mankind to live in peace and experience the blessings of God. The verse goes on to say, “Put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.” It is Satan who is the father of lies and false reports, and those who follow him do his bidding (John 8:44). The Apostle Paul wrote of those who are deceitful, “Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips,” (Romans 3:13).

Just a few verses following the command, “Thou shalt not raise a false report,” God admonished Moses in the giving of His Law that the people were to “Keep thee far from a false matter,” (Exodus 23:7). Whenever and wherever a falsehood rears its ugly head, God commands man to distance himself from it and not to become a part of it. It is Satan’s desire to deceive the people through falsehoods; it is God’s desire to bring eternal salvation and right living to the people through the TRUTH of His Word (John 17:17).

The Religion of Climate Change

An email sent out by the Tennessee Interfaith Power and Light organization reveals the false religion of climate change. In their own words they promote offering,

“…a spiritual response to climate change.”

They further add,

“We respond to climate change through upholding the sacredness of all life, protecting vulnerable communities, and caring for the Earth.”

In promoting their newsletters and website they state,

“…members witness spiritual values by reducing carbon emissions within our daily lives, by releasing the spiritual power of our faith communities,  and by advocating effective climate protection and justice policies.”

Those who worship “Mother Earth,” also referred to as the Greek mythological god “Gaia,” believe the oil that runs through the veins of the earth is the lifeblood of the planet, therefore it should not be extracted as doing so will cause the earth to die. They also believe animals should not be used for meat or clothing, nor should population be increased to cover the whole earth. Their false religion reaches into the lives of everyone on the planet.

God has ordained this earth for man to enjoy. His instructions to Adam and Eve were to “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28). The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1 of those “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator,” (vs 25). Contrary to those who worship “Mother Earth” and promote its ungodly philosophy,

“The heavens and the earth, which are now,

by the same Word are kept in store,

reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition

of ungodly men.”

II Peter 3:7

Man-Made Religion

The king was dead. He had appointed his son to rule in his stead. Instead of taking the counsel of older men in the kingdom who had served his father well, the son chose to take the counsel of his young peers to rule his newly inherited subjects. A rift ensued that divided the kingdom in two. It was then a new man-made religion was born.

The Temple in Jerusalem had been the place of worship since King Solomon was directed by God to build it, replacing the Tabernacle used in the wilderness. It was a gleaming edifice covered in gold that was seen for miles around as it sat upon the highest plot of land in the city. King Jeroboam, son of a former servant of Solomon, determined that those in the ten tribes of Israel who had followed him in creating the Northern Kingdom need not return to Jerusalem to worship. His fear was that if his subjects returned to Jerusalem for worship they would reunite with Solomon’s son, Rehoboam, his adversary ruling the lone tribe of Judah that remained loyal to the once great King’s son.

It was in the cities of Dan and Bethel of the Northern Kingdom, Jeroboam set up two golden calves reminiscent of Aaron’s golden calf that greeted Moses on his descent from Mt. Sinai upon receiving the Ten Commandments. King Jeroboam said to his people, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel.” Not only did he direct his subjects to worship the golden calves he had made, he:

1. made an house of high places

2made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi”

3. ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah”

4. offered (sacrifices) upon the altar”

5. sacrificing unto the calves that he had made

6.burnt incense

Scripture tells us in 1 Kings 11-12 Jeroboam devised his form of false religion in his own heart. It was not the religion of God but of man. Many cults have come and gone throughout the ages with one thing in common… all were devised by men adding to and taking away from Scripture. There is only one True Way of worshipping God the Father, HIS way. Man can devise all kinds of rituals, chants, beliefs, and prayers that have nothing to do with the God Who made heaven and earth. He has clearly written in His Word how He is to be worshipped and adored; any deviation dooms souls to Hell.

False Christs

In Jesus’ final message delivered to His disciples on the Mount of Olives before Judas’ betrayal of Him two days later, He told the disciples in answer to their question of when shall these things be that He was telling them and what will be the sign of His coming, “If any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false christs, and false prophets.” False christs and false prophets are in our world today. There are those who are placing their faith in another Jesus, not the Jesus of the Bible (Matthew 24).

Throughout the world there are those who are believing in a Jesus whom they say is the spirit brother of the devil. They believe in a Jesus who supposedly contended with Satan for the privilege of taking on human form, coming to earth and becoming the redeemer of the world. They do not believe their Jesus is the eternal Word of God or God Himself as the Bible clearly teaches He is (John 1:1-14).

There are millions of others throughout the world who believe in a Jesus who was merely a prophet, not the Son of God. They believe their Jesus appeared to be crucified but did not die on the cross bearing the sins of the world, but ascended to Heaven having never died. They are worshipping a false christ, not the Christ of the Scriptures (I Corinthians 15:1-4).

There are millions more believing in a Jesus whom they believe to be a co-redeemer with his mother. They believe in a Jesus whose mother remained a virgin throughout her life contrary to Scripture (Matthew 13:55-56). They believe in a Jesus whose body and blood mystically appears in the transformation of the bread and wine of the communion table. They believe it is upon Peter the church is built, not Christ.

In His introductory words of Matthew 24, Jesus admonished His disciples, “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” In further mentioning the coming of false christs into the world midway through the chapter, He warned “If it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” But it is not possible to deceive true believers in the One True God, His Only Begotten Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit of Scripture, for it is written of Jesus in John 10:3-5, “To Him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear His voice: and He calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him:  for they know not the voice of strangers.” They will not follow another Jesus.
