Finding Faith

These Scriptures point out our sinfulness, our need for the Savior, and the necessity of His death on the cross to pay for the penalty of our sin. The sinless Lamb of God was slain for our sin.

Our Condition “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3:10-18)

“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Psalm 14:2-3)

“Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

“Jesus… said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her… And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one.” (John 8:7,9)

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

“The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men.” (Romans 1:18)

“For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23a)

The Sacrifice – “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6)

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” (I Peter 3:18)

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” (John 14:6)

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Our Remedy “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)

“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

“But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all His prophets, that Christ should suffer, He hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” (Acts 3:18-19a)

“For by grace are you saved through faith: and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)

A New Life in Christ – “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” (Romans 6:11-13)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ.” (II Corinthians 5:17-18)

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: Rooted and built up in Him and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:6-8)
